INTRODUCTION TO SOAP BOX NATION - An Informal Welsh Peoples Parliament - CYMRIC COMMENT CORNER.


Many years ago Eurig ap Gwilym of Cofiwn suggested just going head and restore Senedd Cenedl Glyndwr, this came to nothng and sadly Eurig, a founder member of Cofiwn who in fact suggested the name change from the National Commemoration Association I had given to the group I founded on return from my Irish Exile. This took Cofiwn along a path of not just Commemoration and Celebration of our history but more towards Cymric Consciousness Struggle. Unfortunatly Eurig passed away before he could further his Senedd Glyndwr restoration ideas but they have since been taken up by Dafydd Glyn Jones of Senedd'04, this however this appears to have got no where and Senedd'04 has it seems been unfortunatly abandoned.

It is early days yet to reconsider perhaps reviving such as Senedd'04 but that does not mean we do not keep under consideration the restoration of Senedd Glyndwr. Such was central to my first putting forward the idea of a Soap Box Nation as an annual event to be associated with the annual 21 Mehefin 1404 Dydd y Senedd Gwyl Glyndwr in Machynlleth. This idea was contributed to the great Embassy Glyndwr 600th Anniversary Commemoration in Machynlleth in 2004 but that came to nothing too, since I have only half heartedly put the idea forward from time to time. Now however, I am advancing the idea more as an initiative via this Soap Box Nation Blog Platform, seeing how it advances from here.

Having worked and lived in London one is aware of Speakers Corner at Hyde Park, in suggesting an annual Welsh Speakers Corner I am suggesting this is as autonomous as the Hyde Park Sunday Event. In effect I call upon Patriots just to turn up in grounds of Y Plas, Machynlleth at time of the annual June Owain Glyndwr National Festival, to hold 'autonomously' their own Soap Box Nation as an annual 'Peoples Parliament'. Just do it! inaugurate the first such 'Open Air' National Speakers Corner Cymru around the Gofeb Glyndwr in the grounds of Y Plas. If it rains see if a room may be booked in Y Plas in which to continue Soap Box Nation Discussion and Debate. Actually Y Plas strikes me as a good place in which to place a restored Senedd Glyndwr, consider that?

It is fitting that I launch this Soap Box Nation blog by suggesting that there be an on going National Discussion and Debate as to the restoration and reestablishment not just of a Senedd Glyndwr but also that Independent Cenedl Glyndwr of 1404.
